Once the final payment clears, most flooring shops never contact the customer again.

Flooring past customer reactivation: the next room, the refinish, and the referral.
Your past customers already trust you with their floors. Spur takes your customer list, finds who is due for another room, a recoat, or a referral thank-you, and mails a personal card with a QR code to book.

The problem
Your invoice list is the cheapest lead source you aren't using.
Two years later, a past customer may search for 'flooring near me' instead of calling you.
A first-floor install often leads to the stairs, upstairs, or basement later, if someone asks.
How it works
From list to mailbox in one workflow.
Five steps from a dormant invoice list to booked repeat work.

AI draft for Rosa M. · 1832 Elmhurst Ave
Hi Rosa,
It's been three years since we installed your luxury vinyl plank, and we wanted to check in. How are the floors holding up?
If you're ready to do the upstairs next, past customers get priority scheduling and the same crew. We'll also come by for a free walk-through to check seams and transitions.
Scan the code to pick a time. And if a neighbor needs floors, there's a thank-you in it for both of you.

Why your past customers are your best flooring leads
Winning a new flooring customer costs you advertising, a measure, and a quote, often with a 25 to 40 percent close rate. Winning a past customer costs a postcard. They already trust your crew, they have seen your work in their own house, and they know your name. That is a very different starting point.
Flooring is often done in phases. A customer who replaced the first floor may leave the stairs, upstairs, and basement for later, and a refinished hardwood floor needs a recoat every few years. A card that references the exact job and offers the logical next step feels useful, not pushy.
Timing matters. Reach out at about 12 months to check in, again at 24 months, and at 36 months with a next-room offer. Avoid mailing in the first few months when the customer is still living with the job and may have punch-list items you should handle first.
Segment by what you did. Customers with LVP, hardwood, carpet, or tile each have different next steps, and a card that mentions the right one converts better than a general thank-you. Spur reads your invoice list so the card names the material and the year.
Add a referral thank-you. Past customers are also your best source of neighbor recommendations. A modest, honest thank-you for referrals gives them a reason to share your name, and the QR code lets them forward the page.
Clean your list first. Remove customers with open complaints or warranty claims, add any missing mailing addresses, and de-duplicate households. A past customer card that arrives while an issue is unresolved can do more harm than good.
Measure it simply. Track how many past customers scan, how many book a walk-through, and how many convert to a new job within 90 days. Because the list is small and known, even a few repeat jobs a year make the program worth running, and the referrals it produces cost nothing more.
One repeat room pays for the whole list.
- Spur Team: $49/mo billed annually = $588/yr
- 600 past-customer cards at $0.94 each = $564
- 3 repeat jobs (~$3,200 each) ≈ $9,600
