A client who loved their kitchen starts thinking about the bathroom two years later. If they don't remember your name, they search and find someone else.

Remodeling past client reactivation: your kitchen clients are next year's bath clients.
Clients who loved their kitchen rarely stop at one room. But two years later, most of them have lost your number. Spur turns your past client list into campaigns that name the project you did together, suggest the next room, and ask for referrals, with an alert whenever someone scans.

The problem
Remodelers spend on new leads while their happiest clients forget their name.
Happy clients want to recommend you, but when a friend asks, they can't remember the company name or find your number.
Holiday cards and a newsletter happen when someone has time. Most years, nobody does.
How it works
From list to mailbox in one workflow.
Five steps from a list of finished jobs to the next project.

TWO YEARS IN, HOW'S THE KITCHEN HOLDING UP?
Hi Karen, it's been about two years since we finished your kitchen on Fuller Street. We hope it's still the room everyone ends up in.
Many of our clients tackle the primary bathroom next. If that's on your list, the QR code opens a few baths we've done in Brookline homes like yours, and past clients get first pick of our spring schedule.
And if a friend or neighbor is planning a project, we'd be grateful for an introduction. Referrals from clients like you are how most of our work comes in.

How remodelers win repeat projects and referrals
A remodeler's past clients are worth more than any purchased lead. They've already trusted you with their home, they know how you run a job, and if the project went well, they're glad they hired you. Many will do another project. Homeowners who remodel a kitchen often take on a bathroom, a basement, or an addition within a few years. And every happy client knows other homeowners who are planning projects of their own.
The problem is memory. Remodeling projects are spaced years apart, and a client who finished a kitchen in 2024 may not remember your company name when they start thinking about the bathroom. When a friend asks for a recommendation, they may not be able to find your number. A simple, regular mail program solves both problems.
Make each card about the project you did together. Name the room and the year, ask how it's holding up, and suggest the next project that usually follows. That turns a generic "we're still here" message into a personal note. Link the QR code to a gallery for the suggested project, in homes like theirs, so they can picture it.
Ask for referrals on every card, plainly and gratefully. Clients are often happy to recommend you, but they need a reminder and an easy way to do it. Some remodelers offer a thank-you gift or donation for referrals that become projects. Check your state's rules on referral incentives first.
Mail on a schedule tied to the project. A card around the first and second anniversaries of completion, plus a note before your busy season, keeps you in mind without being pushy. Always check that the client still owns the home. If they've sold, the new owner is a new-buyer prospect, not a past client.
Finally, measure it. Track which past clients scan, book consults, and send referrals. Most remodelers find that a small number of past clients produce a large share of their best projects, which makes this one of the highest-return campaigns they run.
Your past clients are your cheapest next project.
- Spur Team: $49/mo billed annually = $588/yr
- 300 past clients × 2 cards a year = 600 postcards at $0.94 = $564
- Two $22,000 repeat projects and one $30,000 referral = $74,000, about 64× the software and postage combined

FAQ
Remodeling past client questions
How do remodelers get repeat business?
Stay in touch with a reason. Mail past clients a card that names the project you did together, suggests the next room that usually follows, and links to a gallery of similar work.
How often should I contact past remodeling clients?
Once or twice a year is enough, ideally around project anniversaries and before your busy season. More than that can feel like a sales push.
How do I ask past clients for referrals?
Plainly and gratefully, on every card. Say that most of your work comes from client introductions, and make it easy to share your contact details or a QR link.
What project usually comes after a kitchen remodel?
Often the primary bathroom, then other baths, a basement, or outdoor living. Suggest the next room on your card and link to examples.
Can I upload my client list from Buildertrend or JobTread?
Yes. Export a CSV with client names, addresses, project types, and completion dates from your project software or a spreadsheet, and Spur matches each address to its property details.
