Owners remember the chimney when it turns cold, and sweeps face a waitlist followed by a quiet spring.

Chimney sweep postcards that fill September before the October rush.
A chimney postcard works best when it lands in late summer, before anyone thinks about the first fire. Spur writes a friendly safety card for each owner, prints and mails it first-class, and adds a QR code that books a sweep and alerts your office.

The problem
Chimney work crowds into a few weeks every fall.
Crown cracks, flashing leaks, and damaged liners are invisible from the ground.
Referrals help, but they can't be scheduled ahead of a rush.
How it works
From list to mailbox in one workflow.
Five steps from a neighborhood list to a sweep on the calendar.

Hi Paul,
National fire safety standards call for chimneys to be inspected every year, even if you only burn a few times. A buildup of creosote or a cracked liner can't be seen from the ground, and the first fire of the season is the wrong time to find it.
Our CSIA-certified sweeps use drop cloths and a vacuum, and we'll show you photos of what we find. Book in September and you'll skip the October waitlist.

How to write chimney postcards that get booked
A chimney postcard has to arrive before the need is obvious. Owners think about the fireplace the first cold night, which is exactly when sweep calendars are full. A card that lands in late August or early September, with a clear booking deadline, moves work out of the October rush and into the quiet weeks before it.
Lead with safety, calmly. The National Fire Protection Association's NFPA 211 standard calls for chimneys, fireplaces, and vents to be inspected at least once a year. Creosote buildup, cracked flue tiles, and blocked flues can lead to chimney fires or carbon monoxide problems. State it plainly, without fear tactics, and let the fact do the work.
Name your credentials. Chimney Safety Institute of America certification is the most recognized credential in the trade. Say if your sweeps hold it, and mention insurance, drop cloths, and vacuum cleaning. Owners are letting a stranger into the house, and trust is the sale.
Choose the right homes. Wood-burning fireplaces are most common in homes built before 2000, and in colder climates. Target owner-occupied homes of that age, and add homes with masonry chimneys visible in your area. Long-time owners are likelier to have a fireplace they use.
Offer a simple price. A flat sweep and inspection price, with a clear note on what an inspection level means, is easier to book than a coupon with conditions. Add that photos of findings will be shared, which builds credibility for any repair quote.
Mail twice. Owners often set the card aside. A second card two to three weeks later, with fewer open dates, reminds them and creates honest urgency. Call scanners who haven't booked, and mention the next open slot.
Use real photographs wherever you can. A picture of a cracked crown, a clean flue, or a crew on a roof does more than any phrase on the card. If you have before-and-after images from past jobs and permission to use them, a small photo on the front helps owners picture what you will do at their house.
A handful of sweeps pays for the year.
- Spur Team: $49/mo billed annually = $588/yr
- 300 postcards at $0.94 each = $282
- 15 sweeps and inspections (~$225 each) plus one repair ≈ $4,000

How do chimney sweeps get more customers?
Mail owners of older homes a safety card in late summer, with a booking deadline, and send a reminder every year to past customers.
When should I mail chimney postcards?
Late August to early September, before the fall rush fills calendars.
Can Spur tell which homes have fireplaces?

That national standards call for an annual inspection, in plain language, without exaggeration.
What does Spur cost for a chimney company?
Solo is free forever. You pay per postcard when you mail. Team is $49/mo billed annually with more searches, enrichments, and QR codes.
