Roofing seasonal campaigns that land before storm season and before the first freeze.

Roofing demand follows the weather: hail and wind in spring, ice dams and leaks in winter. Spur builds your aging-roof list once, writes a spring storm-prep card and a fall pre-winter card for each home, and mails them on schedule every year, so homeowners book inspections before the season tests their roof.

Roofing marketing usually reacts to the weather instead of getting ahead of it.

Only after the damage

Most roofers mail after a storm or wait for leak calls. Homeowners with weak roofs never hear from them before the season hits.

Slow months stay slow

Late winter and midsummer can leave crews idle. Inspections booked ahead of the season fill those weeks with planned work.

Rebuilt every season

A new list, a new design, and a new print order each time. When the office is busy, the campaign quietly gets skipped.

From list to mailbox in one workflow.

Five steps to set the roofing calendar once and let it run.

BEFORE THE SNOW: IS THE 2002 ROOF ON PACIFIC ST READY?

Hi Jeff, homes on your block were built around 2002. If your roof is original, the shingles are more than 20 years old, and that's when winter starts to find the weak spots.

Ice dams form when heat escaping through the attic melts snow that refreezes at the eaves, and older shingles let that water back up underneath. Our free pre-winter check covers shingles, flashing, vents, gutters, and the attic, with photos of everything we see.

Scan the code to book a September or October visit, before the first snow.

How to build a roofing marketing calendar around the seasons

Roofs fail on a seasonal rhythm. In much of the country, spring and early summer bring hail and straight-line winds. The NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory notes that hail is most common in spring and summer, with the Plains seeing the most activity. Late fall and winter bring the other half of the problem: freeze-thaw cycles, heavy snow, and ice dams. Seasonal campaigns put your name in front of homeowners before each of those periods, when an inspection is a calm, scheduled decision rather than an emergency.

Run two campaigns a year. The spring card is about storm prep: loose or lifted shingles, worn flashing, and granule loss that make a roof more vulnerable to the next hailstorm. The fall card is about winter: shingles, flashing, and attic ventilation and insulation, since ice dams form when warm attic air melts snow that refreezes at the eaves. Both offer a free inspection with photos, and both are the natural moment to offer a maintenance plan.

Timing matters more than design. Mail four to six weeks before your local storm season and your usual first hard freeze. In Texas and Oklahoma that means a spring card in February or early March. In the upper Midwest and Northeast, the fall card should mail in late August or September, while the weather still allows roof work.

Target homes where the season will matter most. Owner-occupied single-family homes built 15 to 30 years ago, held long enough to likely have the original roof, and not on your customer list. Remove homes with a recent re-roof permit where your county publishes them.

Set it up once and let it repeat. The list, the two cards, and the mail dates should run every year without anyone rebuilding them. After each season, check which neighborhoods produced inspections and jobs, adjust the list, and let the next drop go out on time.

Two seasonal drops that keep crews busy between storms.

  • Spur Team: $588/yr, plus 2 drops × 700 homes = 1,400 postcards at $0.94 = $1,316
  • Two $11,000 replacements from seasonal inspections = $22,000
  • $22,000 from $1,904 of software and postage = 12×, before repairs and maintenance plans

Roofing seasonal campaign questions

When should roofers send spring and fall postcards?

Four to six weeks before your local storm season and your usual first hard freeze. In southern Plains states the spring card often mails in February. In northern states the fall card mails in late August or September.

What should a pre-winter roofing card offer?

A free inspection of shingles, flashing, vents, gutters, and the attic, with photos. Mention ice dams in one plain sentence and add a maintenance plan option.

How do roofers get work in the off season?

Book planned inspections before each season instead of waiting for storms and leaks. Seasonal mail to aging roofs fills slow weeks with scheduled work.

Can Spur repeat my seasonal roofing campaigns?

Yes. Set the list, both cards, and the mail dates once, and they repeat every year. You can change the offer or list before each drop.

Should seasonal mail go to past customers?

Send past customers a reminder or maintenance offer instead, and send the seasonal inspection card to homes that aren't on your list yet.
